PEOPLE IN MOTION spring '22

Our latest collaboration with Cypress College's Dance and Theater departments was a blast. We used a holographic scrim to

separate frontal and back projections. The Dance department created a choreography that worked well with our particle system designs and the Theater department helped with the rigging and positioning of projectors and the scrim.

Projection design reel 2021

Here is the projection design reel from the 2021 academic year. We had fun to finally practice our skills in person on campus. The reel contains our best hits.

LIVING CUBE

PROJECTION MAPPING INSTALLATION

Students used a large venue Panasonic projector, Resolume Arena and After Effects to create this installation. The assignment was to create a Living Cube based on elements such as fire, earth, water, wind, light.

LALALAND concert

COLLABORATION WITH THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT

Over 40 student collaborated in this event. 25 motion design students had to create abstract content using the different section of the song. Each had to design the motion and mood of the piece based on the tempo of the music. Advanced level students had to add audio reactive features to their pieces.

The music was divided into 5 different sections and each section had a color. The projection mapping students mapped out the stage and ceiling fans. They used an EPSON projector, Resolume Arena and After Effects to create this installation. The chorus had to time their singing to the projections thus is was a really fun and challenging experiment

CONNECTIONS

OUTDOOR PROJECTIONS

Students used two dell projectors, Resolume Arena and After Effects to create this projection. The challenge was to connect two projectors to one computer. The collaboration included several departments, such as Dance, Music, Photography and we also had the astronomy department contributing with large telescopes for star grazing.
